Our Mission and Vision
Since 1998, Community Stepping Stones has been the heart of youth empowerment through art in Sulphur Springs. With a dedicated team of teaching artists, we offer free art programs to local youth, nurturing creativity, critical thinking, and community spirit. We believe in the transformative power of the arts to inspire, educate, and enrich lives. Join us in building a stronger, more vibrant community. We are proud to work alongside families, neighbors, and local partners to create a healthier, stronger community by caring for our environment, investing in local economic well-being, and enhancing daily life for all across Hillsborough County.
Our Programs
CSS offers a wide range of programming across the Hillsborough County area, from Pre-K through 12th grade, all with a focus on development through the arts. Through collaborative projects and mentorship opportunities, we aim to cultivate a supportive environment where every child can thrive.
First Jobs Teen Internships
First Jobs offers neighborhood teens and students ages 14 to 18 paid opportunities to gain work experience while assisting in classes. First Jobs participants serve as Teacher Aides, learning the fundamentals of employment such as professional conduct, time tracking, and workplace responsibility: all while expanding their roles as mentors within their community. Space in this program is limited.
CSS Art Camp
CSS offers free after-school, Spring Break, and Summer Art Camps for children ages 5–13, giving students the chance to explore new art projects and techniques, make friends, build community connections, and participate in art contests, showcases, and fun activities. With snacks, outdoor time, and hands-on creative experiences, our camps inspire children to grow as artists while having a blast in a supportive, engaging environment.
Art Boxes
Our Art Box program was started in Covid as a way to get resources and supplies out to children and families during isolation, but has continued to give parents the opportunity to connect with their children while doing an activity together at home. Each box includes a take-home-crafting-kit with all of the needed materials and instructions inside. Art boxes are distributed at community events and can be delivered directly to your organization!
Arts Initiative Outreach
We partner with public and nonprofit organizations to provide a wide range of art programming across the Tampa area. All of our Teaching Artists are Hillsborough County Public Schools–approved contractors who have completed Level II background screenings. Our Outreach Program offers participants meaningful opportunities to explore art, creativity, and self-expression through diverse activities and hands-on experiences.
